RED RIBBON WEEK
Red ribbon week is all about raising awareness to the amount of drug and alcohol use in teens, the dangers that occur and the consequences that await these choices.
Alcohol is the most widely used-and abused- drug in
AmericaAlcohol related high way deaths are the number one killer of 15 to 24 year olds.
The rate of current alcohol use among youths ages 12-17 declined from 17.6 % in 2004 to 16.5 % in 2005. Youth binge drinking also declined during that period, from 11.1% to 9.9%.
Drinking coffee will not help sober up a drunk person. Alcohol leaves the body of virtually everyone at a constant rate of about .015 percent of blood alcohol content (BAC) per hour. Thus, a person with BAC of .015 would be completely sober in an hour while a person with a BAC of ten times that (.15) would require 10 hours too become completely sober. This is true regardless of sex, age, weight, and similar factors.

DRESS UP DAY THIS WEEK
Dress up day this week is “Hawaiian” because we are saying aloha to Azle!
Everyone did a great job in keeping within our dress code during last week’s dress up day and we are asking that you do the same this week.
A few guidelines for the Hawaiian day:
Make sure, as our dress code indicates, that you dress gender appropriate… guys, that means no grass skirts.
We need to refrain from any coconut accessories this year as well.
Also, at the games it is no longer acceptable for our guys to go “shirtless” and paint their chests, etc.
You can put all the face paint on that you want, in fact… we encourage it… however, because of some who have taken advantage of the circumstances in the past, everyone will now have to wear shirts during the ball games.
We’ve had a great first six weeks and let’s continue that spirit on into the second six weeks… come support the lady hawks in volleyball and the hawks in football this Friday in Azle!

PEP RALLY & DRESS UP DAY INFO
Pep Rally Tomorrow!! We will be following the pep rally schedule in the afternoon.
CAMO DAY is the theme this week. Wear your camo and prepare to TAKE DOWN THE BREWER BEARS Thursday Night!!!
Important note about dress up days:
We love to do dress up days and hope we can do many more in the future; however, when you dress up you must still be in dress code.
We had many, many violations during the 80s dress up day last week. This cannot happen again if we are to continue having dress up days.
Make sure you are in school dress code when you dress up. The only exception has been hats and the hat must be relevant to the actual dress up day or it cannot be worn either.
So let’s keep BHS a FUN place to be where we are able to participate in many dress up days in the future… all we ask is that you please remember to stay in dress code on the dress up days!!!!!!
