Anyone interested in trying out for Rawkin’ Hawks: There will be an interest meeting in Mr. Waldrip’s room – D106, on Thursday at 3:30pm. The application process will be discussed as well as the timeline for tryouts.

ATHLETICS
Birdville ISD Parents and Athletes are encouraged to get a jump on the college selection process by attending a FREE Introductory Seminar Monday, Feb. 11th, at 6:30pm at the Thomas Coliseum. This seminar will be conducted by the Collegiate Athlete Educational Program. Pre-Registration must be completed by Feb. 4th. (email becky@collegiateathlete.com). The seminar, “The Big Picture” will begin at 6:30pm. Both the student athlete and a parent must attend together.

SWIMMING
Congratulations Mighty Hawk Swim Team for your excellent performance at the District 6-4A Swimming and Diving Championships! The following swimmers qualified to advance to the regional swim meet to be held on Feb. 8 & 9 in Ft. Worth.
The Girls Medley Relay consisting of Rachel Grienke, Jennifer Greene, Angela Andrus, and Macey Butler.
The Boys Medley Relay that includes Billy Nickell, Josh Bland, Stephen Hoerig, and Parker Devlin.
Qualifying in Individual Events were: Stephen Hoerig in the 100 yard Backstroke and Angela Andrus in the 100 Freestyle and the 50 Freestyle.
Angela was a medalist in the 50 Free, earning a bronze medal for her third place finish.

The Lady Hawks gymnastics team placed 3rd Friday night, against Richland & San Angelo Central. Senior Alicia Panek placed 2nd bars & floor, 3rd all around & beam & 4th vault. Junior Kristy Peterson placed 4th bars, 5th beam & 6th floor & all around. Senior Amy Zimmerman 6th beam. On the boys side, Robert Enriquez placed 5th vault, 6th high bar & all around.

GYMNASTICS
The Lady Hawk gymnastics team competed in the first meet of the year against Saginaw & Richland last Thursday. Senior Alicia Panek won bars, & beam, placing 2nd in all around & 3rd on vault & floor. Junior Kristy Peterson placed 5th on beam. Last Thursday at the first gymnastics meet of the season against Saginaw and Richland the boys team was led by junior Ryan Graf who swept 1st place in every event and won the all-around. Ryan had a personal best also on high bar with a score of 9.9.Sophomore Robert Enriquez was 4th in the all-around and 4th on Parallel Bars. Contributing performances were also made by freshman Evan Romrell and senior Daniel Hughes.

Congratulations to Brenda Jackson. Because of her outstanding season in volleyball this year, Brenda was selected to the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram First Team for volleyball. There were only six players from the North Texas area selected to this team, so congratulations Brenda!
