SWIMMING NEWS
Congratulations swimmers: The Mighty Hawk Swim team competed in the Region 2 Swimming and Diving Championships this past Friday and Saturday. The boys and girls medley relays each narrowly missed qualifying for finals, finishing 9th in each event.
Angela Andrus qualified for the finals in the 50 freestyle and finished 7th while swimming an excellent time of 26.5.
If you see a swimmer today, congratulate them on their excellent season.
Swimmers… don’t forget practice in the morning at 6am at the swim center.
GYMNASTICS
The Lady Hawk gymnastics team had a tough night Friday, with their top all around being out with an injury. Other team mates stepping up were, Kristy Peterson – 2nd on beam & Amy Zimmerman – 2nd on bars. Way to go girls.
NEWSPAPER STAFF
Congratulations to the Newspaper Staff Students who competed in the Mansfield Legacy Invitational Tournament Saturday. In a field of 60 students from 3, 4, and 5A schools Priscilla Totiyapungprasert won 1st place in News Writing and 5th place in Editorials. Rachel Stonecipher won 1st place in Headline Writing. Taylor Dukes won 4th place in Feature Writing. Rachel Fountain won 4th place in News Writing and out of 41 schools the team won 1st place Journalism Team!!! Way to go!!!
WRESTLING NEWS
Richard Rivera placed sixth at the Region I Wrestling Tournament. His leadership and dedication will be missed. Thank you, Richard for an outstanding season.
UIL ACADEMIC TEAM RESULTS FROM SATURDAY
This past weekend 42 students from Birdville competed in the Mansfield Legacy Invitational Academic Meet. We placed 6th out of 41 schools, and 2nd among 4A schools. There were 1200 student entries, and the competition was enormous. In Number Sense our 9/10 grade team placed 2nd .The Calculator Team placed 1st in 4A schools,The Science team placed 2nd over all schools, and only lost the team contest by 6 points (one question).In Science Sean Castillo placed 1st & Kadin Norder placed 4thOur Journalism team won 1st place team overall, for the third time this year. Spelling and Vocabulary- Amanda Roberts placed 4thLiterary Criticism – Miranda Cunningham placed 4th
STUDENT ACCEPTED INTO SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST FILM FESTIVAL
Congratulations to Alethea Swanson for the acceptance of her film “Never Go Into a Boy’s Bathroom” by the South by Southwest film festival in Austin. Way to Go Alethea.

Everyboyd come see a Night of Comedy, Monday, Feb. 11th, @ 7pm. Best of all… it’s free! You’ll get to see to funny one-acts, for whom the Southern Belles Toll & an Actor’s Nightmare! It’s in the Birdville Auditorium and it should be done by 8:30pm at the latest.

Seniors… it’s that time of year… turn in your pictures for the senior slideshow. Give your pictures to Nurse Amy, Channing Butler, Rebecca Steward or any of your STUCO officers. If you want to be in the slideshow, turn your pictures in by Feb. 29th.
