TEXTBOOKS… TURN IN THIS WEEK!

Your textbooks must be turned in this week to your teacher. Please be certain to turn in all of your textbooks to the appropriate teacher by the end of the day on Friday. You will not be allowed to take your finals until your textbooks are turned in. Get those books in asap!

COLORGUARD ANNOUNCEMENT

BHS COLORGUARD

Birdville HS needs Performers ! No experience is required and we are open to all students. You can earn class credit and letter jackets while traveling all year long to their many performances.CAST  AUDITIONS for the “High Flyers” Performance Team will be held Tuesday – Thursday,  May 20, 21, 22 from 5-7pm in the Birdville Gyms. Attention all Juniors:  Interested in being a part of the Announcement Team for next school year?  We are looking for next year’s Seniors who are outgoing and enthusiastic and want to participate in delivering the announcements.  If interested, please come sign up in the C200 Office outside of Mr. Wells’ door.

SENIOR PICNIC

Tickets for the Senior Picnic will be on sale until Wed., May 21st.  You may purchase tickets before or after school in Mrs. Gomez’s room, B201, OR at lunch… tickets are $2.50 each.  Also, bring a dollar to the senior picnic this Friday if you would like to buy a booklet for all of your friends to sign, instead of signing the yearbook.  Buy a senior signing book for only $1.  See Mrs. Gomez if you have any questions (Room B201).

BIRDVILLE HAWK SPORTS BROADCASTING

Interested in being a part of the Birdville Hawk Radio Sports Broadcast Team for next school year?  We are looking for next year’s Juniors & Seniors who whave an interest in sports and would like to participate in broadcasting football games and other BHS sporting events.  If interested, please come sign up in the C200 office outside of Mr. Wells’ door.  There will be an interest meeting on Wednesday, May 21st, at 3:45pm after school in the Library.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

NHS JUNIORS:
1) Wednesday is the last day to vote for next year’s officers.  Voting will end at 3:30pm.
2) 10 volunteer hours for this semester are due to Ms. Wilson on Friday (May 23).

NHS SENIORS:
1) Stoles will be distributed at Graduation Practice on Tuesday.  Please pay Ms. Wilson $25 before then if you are keeping yours.
2) 10 volunteer hours for this semester are due to Ms. Wilson on Friday (May 23).

BACCALAUREATE

Baccalaureate will be THIS SUNDAY (May25th, 2008) from 2pm to 4pm.   All graduates attending will need to wear their cap and gown, and be in the foyer by 1:45pm at North Richland Hills Baptist Church.

Anyone attending prom tomorrow on May 17th… don’t forget to bring your ID!  You have to have it to enter (BHS students need their school ID’s and pre-approved guests will need some form of picture ID).  Make sure your attire is appropriate for the Prom and for Project Celebration.

UNDERCLASSMEN FAVORITES… VOTING TODAY AND TOMORROW

We will be voting on Freshmen, Sophomore, and Junior class favorites during lunch today (May 13th) & tomorrow (May 14th).  Please come to the stage to vote during lunch!

PHYSICALS

Who?  Any BHS Athlete.  When?  May 15, 2008.  Where?  BHS Gym.  Why? BHS requires a new physical every year.  Cost?  $10 Cash or Check.  Come to the training room for paperwork or ask your coach!

MAKE UP HOURS

Make up time hours are running out!!
So… we have added more time for you on Saturdays to get a couple of extra hours in.

Available make up hours are:

Monday – Friday from 3:45pm to 5:15pm in room A102.
Saturdays from 8am to 2pm.  Yes… that’s right!  8am to 2pm in the library.

Our Hawks Baseball team has moved on to the third round vs Western Hills this week.  Thursday (Game 1) is here at 8pm, Friday (Game 2) is at Western Hills at 8pm, and Saturday (Game 3 if necessary) will be played at Keller Central HS, 12 noon!

The Workshops are free of charge. The “High Flyers” Varsity Performance Team is the 2008 North Texas Regional Champions and placed 5th at National Competition. The performance team is open to ALL students, no experience necessary and has an unlimited amount of performers needed for various shows and competitions all year round. For information, come by the band hall or send questions to Coach Lynch at BHScolorguard@email.com.

Attention all Juniors!!!! There will be a mandatory meeting for any Junior interested in joining Senior Planning Board for the 2008-2009 school year on Wednesday May 7 after school in room D-301.  Bring your calendars and enthusiasm.  

THEATRE BANQUETTheatre Banquet tickets will be on sale before and after school as  well as during lunch for $25 for the May 9th banquet.

CROSS COUNTRY/ TRACK & FIELD BANQUET

Tickets are $15 each (athletes are free).  Pickup tickets or purchase at lunces & Coach Brown’s room (Art Lab 1).  The banquet is Monday, May 12th, 6:30pm at the FAAC.  Make checks payable to BHS Track/CC Boosters.

   FISHHEAD APPLICATIONSThey are available outside room 201B.  If you are a junior or a sophomore this year and interested in becoming a Fishhead – Link Crew member, pick up an application in room 201B and return it by May 9th.

SCHOLARSHIPS

If any senior has a scholarship that has been offered to them, whether they are going to use it or not, you need to please send a copy to Ms. Goodrich.  This also applies to seniors who are going into the military and are receiving a GI Bill, etc.  The counseling office will make a copy for them is they do not have access to a copier.

COMING BACK NEXT YEAR?

 If you know that you will not be returning to BHS next year please come by attendance and pick up a School Change Form.  They will be available for the next few weeks and need to be turned in by the last day of school.

TRACK & FIELD ATHLETES

Attention all Track and Field athletes.  You need to turn in all equipment to your coach.  If your equipment is not turned in you will be on the Fee/Fine list.

UIL ACADEMIC TEAM – STATE COMPETITION RESULTS

Birdville High School’s UIL academic team qualified 8 students to compete at the STATE competition this past weekend in Austin.  Congratulations to the following for their accomplishments:

·       Rachel Stonecipher placed 8th in social studies.

·       Dario Scalco received the 6th place medal in computer applications.

·       Sean Castillo received the 6th place medal in overall science and the 1st place medal in Chemistry.  This is the second year in a row a Birdville High School student has placed first in Chemistry at STATE.

·       The Science Team, Kadin Norder, Gena Smith, Rachel Stonecipher, and Sean Castillo placed 5th as a team.

We are so proud of you all!!!!!
